Inside Outsider

Styling out Outsider's SS11 range 'Fighting Spirit' here... appropriately with a fair bit of war paint on meself! Outsider Ethical Fashion is a wonderful label producing sustainable fashion, after years of working in the conventional fashion arena where profit is the dominant force they wanted to create a more responsible approach... one 'outsider' forging away from the norm. 'Fighting Spirit' range is inspired by the utilitarian fashion circa 1940s, all natural coloured cottons and linens ethically sourced. Many items can be styled in various ways and Outsider say 'we know you will love wearing our garments safe in the knowledge that these are fashion, people and planet conscious'

There's currently 40% off when you buy online and the Autumn/Winter range is also available now, utilising beautiful merino wool jersey and organic wool flannel creating lovely draping and silhouettes.

The colours on my phone camera show this up as being more dramatic and full of lilac tones which seem to have got lost... but i still like the scene-looking towards the City out my window....

Seas SOS!

Project Ocean is happening at Selfridges right now... highlighting the plight of the ever dwindling fish stocks in our seas-which 'UNLESS WE CHANGE THE WAY WE FISH AND THE SEAFOOD WE CHOOSE TO EAT,GLOBAL STOCKS WILL BE FULLY EXPLOITED WITHIN THE NEXT GENERATION'...! Sobering stuff. The windows on oxford street are really engaging, eye catching and hopefully will make people think twice about what seafood they choose to consume.
'Wish You Were Still Here'

'You Wouldn't Eat A Panda...'

'Crazy EU laws mean that half of all fish caught in the north sea are thrown back overboard dead. Help up stop this insane waste...Hugh-Fearnley Whittingstall'
-If you text FISH and your name to 78866 your name will be added to a petition supporting Hugh's Fish Fight to end this waste and sent to Fisheries Commisioner and all MEPs

Somerset Sunday

..."photography remains the greatest message-carrying system we have, it's trans-cultural, immediate, unarguable. Photography can deliver a hammer-blow or weave traceries of incredible delicacy."
-Francis Hodgson, curator

Went to visit the Sony World Photography Awards at Somerset House... such a beautiful venue filled with hundreds of photographs for the exhibition. From fashion, portrait, landscape and my favourite-documentary.  These pictures below were some of my fave's by Amit Madheshiya with the series titled 'At a tent theatre near you' documenting travelling cinemas in western India and the multitude of faces and expressions associated with such... from fear, anxiety, delight to total absorption. Loves it.

The exhibition finishes in just one week!
Makes me wanna dig out my camera... and my passport.

Sunshine Scribing

This little notebook caught my eye in Selfridges... by Smythson the front cover reads;

'YOU ARE
MY SUNSHINE'

which is just too adorable... even if the gold against the yellow doesn't translate on my camera that well-can assure you it be heart-warming stuff! Raised a grin and a small sense of longing from me!

Red Cross Ringies!

Sooooo the work of the Tomodachi Calling peeps and their Japan tsunami victim fundraising efforts really inspired me to think if I could do something too... I dug out a lot of red flowery beads, iridescent, metallic, paler toned gems and beads and created a limited number of Petals&Papillon Red Cross Rings- with all proceeds going to the charity in Japan.

The red flowers are arranged in a cross to illustrate their cause.
Each one in a special pinky and red butterfly covered box.

Tomodachi Tuesday... Featuring Me!

This is the image I created for the Japan Red Cross charity website Tomodachi Calling ... it started out as a photograph I took in Tokyo a few years back, which I played around with, drew onto and collaged various bits. It was a couple sharing a scarf-which I just thought was the cutest thing ever...

An organic cotton babygrow!
A timeless mug!

All proceeds go to the tsunami fund and the Tomodachi project is being run solely by volunteers based in Tokyo looking to help out the survivors for the future months, there are some wonderful designs aside from my own!! Have a looksie here Tomodachi Calling Vicky Palmer for my products

Emma's Gems Deux

Piccies from Emma Cassi's Spring-Summer collection for her website, vintage kimonos, blossoms, pretty pastel threads and of course lovely lace...

Emma's attention to detail and tiny touches are just so so beautiful, everything is made by hand and the amount of beads she can thread onto a single necklace is just beyond incredible... loves her!

Alright Wright

Actually think Frank Lloyd Wright's creations are much more impressive than just 'alright'. Went to see some of his wonderfully designed houses over the weekend... my camera had died and the majority were privately owned gaf's-so whipped out my blackberry a few times to capture all the glory-but the detailing is not done justice here below!
The multitude of lines in everything he designs is what is really stunning and I really really want some Frankie-esq windows in my life! The flecks of gold and white, perfect symmetry and art deco feel-although so much of what he produced was at the turn of the century...all in all-amazing.

Uno Week William...

A slightly wonky and off-centre poster I saw in Peter Jones toilets on the Kings Road which made me smile a lil bit... apparently the bride-to-be has been shopping on said road a few times this week but alas, missed her! Was tempted to buy a celebratory mug but I think I want the chintziest I can find... or even one of those Chinese ones that say 'Harry & Kate'!!
